Hazbin Hotel's Showrunner Is Aware of Fans' Season 2 Bingo Cards β With Some Good News
The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions β but they may be surprised at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. [β¦] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season β particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
